چکیده

Combustion in an incinerator occurs in two dif ferentiated zones: (1) the solid bed, Zone I, where the principal processes are pyrolysis, gasification, and combustion, and (2) the overbed region, Zone II, where the principal processes are flame holding and final burnup. Equations are developed to relate com bustion intensity in each zone independently to the average combustion rate in each zone. This amplifies a previously developed equation relating the overall combustion intensity to the area firing rate and incin erator capacity . The basis for predicting limits to capacity and burning rate, by application of the thermal theory, is also outlined. This paper provides the basis for other papers in which additional ap proximate factors are developed for expanding the physical and mathematical model of an incinerator still further.

Development of a Mathematical Model for Prediction of Pollutants Emission in D. I. Diesel Engines

Major pollutants emission from Direct-Injection (D.I) diesel engines are predicted by means of a mathematical model. In order to construct such a model, an integral Multi-Zone Combustion Model (MZCM) is formulated, which basically consists of jet mixing and combustion submodels. In MZCM, variation of injection pressure is considered. Also time period of ignition delay is predicted by considerin...

Two Mathematical Models for Railway Crew Scheduling Problem

Railway crew scheduling problem is a substantial part of the railway transportation planning, which aims to find the optimal combination of the trip sequences (pairings), and assign them to the crew complements. In this problem, each trip must be covered by at least one pairing. The multiple-covered trips lead to impose useless transfers called “transitions”. In this study, a new ma...

DAMAGE AND PLASTICITY CONSTANTS OF CONVENTIONAL AND HIGH-STRENGTH CONCRETE PART II: STATISTICAL EQUATION DEVELOPMENT USING GENETIC PROGRAMMING

Several researchers have proved that the constitutive models of concrete based on combination of continuum damage and plasticity theories are able to reproduce the major aspects of concrete behavior. A problem of such damage-plasticity models is associated with the material constants which are needed to be determined before using the model. These constants are in fact the connectors of constitu...

Beyond First Order Logic: From number of structures to structure of numbers: Part I

We study the history and recent developments in nonelementarymodel theory focusing on the framework of abstractelementary classes. We discuss the role of syntax and semanticsand the motivation to generalize first order model theory to nonelementaryframeworks and illuminate the study with concrete examplesof classes of models. This first part introduces the main conceps and philosophies anddiscu...

Move Structures in “Statement-of-the-Problem” Sections of M.A. Theses: The Case of Native and Nonnative Speakers of English

Understanding how to structure the “Statement-of-the-Problem” (SP) section of a thesis is necessary for EFL students to develop a logical argumentation for a problem statement. This study intended to compare Move structures of SP sections of theses written by native speakers of Persian (NSPs) and English (NSEs). To this end, 100 SP sections (50 SP sections written by NSE...
